As for money, sources tell TMZ the couple, who married in Sept. 2004, has an iron-clad prenup. Not surprisingly, Spears is waiving her right to spousal support. She's also asking the judge to make each party pay their own attorney's fees.
Spears gives the date of separation as yesterday, the same day she flaunted her incredible revamped physique during a surprise appearance on David Letterman's show. Sources tell TMZ there was no single reason for Britney pulling the plug, rather, it was "a string of events."
Spears has hired powerhouse celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has repped a number of celebs, including Angelina Jolie, Nick Lachey and Kiefer Sutherland. We're told Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe asked Wasser to rep both of them in their split, but Wasser declined for personal reasons. "

A judge has dismissed a libel suit brought by Britney Spears accusing Us Weekly magazine of fabricating a story about a sexually explicit video the pop star and her husband made together.
The suit, filed last year by Spears and her spouse, dancer Kevin Federline, sought $10 million in damages against Us Weekly over the article, which appeared in the publication’s ”HOTstuff” column in October 2005, about a month after Spears gave birth to her first child.
Us Weekly said it stood by its account, which ran with the headline: “Brit & Kev: Secret Sex Tape? New parents have a new worry: racy footage from 2004.”According to the article, the celebrity couple had told their lawyers that “a member of their entourage had threatened to release raunchy footage” of them and that Spears feared that “an X-rated tape starring the two may go public.”
The magazine also reported that Spears and Federline gave a copy of the tape to lawyers and watched it with them.
The judge disagreed.
“It is clear that plaintiff did not bring this lawsuit because she was falsely accused of acting goofy,” Hart Cole wrote. “The issue is whether it is defamatory to state that a husband and wife taped themselves engaging in consensual sex.”
The judge went on to conclude that Spears has “put her modern sexuality squarely, and profitably, before the public eye” in a way that would make it unlikely for the magazine article to be found defamatory.
The judge cited Spears’ 2005 television reality show “Britney & Kevin: Chaotic,” which chronicled her courtship and marriage to Federline based largely on home videos shot by the pop star.
The judge noted that the series included scenes of Spears filming Federline naked in a shower, Spears interviewing Federline during a night-time bus ride while she was naked, and ”otherwise catching plaintiff talking uninhibitedly about her sex life.”

Someone was stupid enough to name crackhead Supermodel Kate Moss "Model of the Year" at the British Fashion Awards in London last night just a year after her alleged cocaine scandal.

Moss checked into an Arizona rehabilitation clinic following the revelations. Pete Doherty had to dash to hospital with lover Kate Moss after he got one of HER rings stuck on his finger.
The pair spent nearly an hour trying to get it off before Kate told Pete they would have to seek help. They were driven to Princess Grace Hospital in West London from Kate’s North London home.
Nurses using clippers eventually removed the ring after smearing 27-year-old Pete’s finger with lubricant.

An Australian newspaper has accused Kate Bosworth of canceling an interview when she discovered she would be quizzed about her weight. The actress was scheduled to talk to Sydney newspaper the Sun-Herald during a trip to the country to attend the Melbourne Cup horse racing event.

Madonna has revealed more about her plans to adopt 13-month-old David Banda from Malawi – including that David's father, Yohane Banda, turned down her offer of financial aid to help raise his son – in an interview with Meredith Vieira scheduled to air both on the Today show and Dateline NBC Wednesday.
"When I met (Yohane), I said I would be happy to … to bring (David) back to your village and help you financially raise him," the singer tells Vieira in the interview. "And he said no … I think he truly felt in his heart of hearts that – and who knows if he was telling me the truth – that he would have a better life with me. So, when he said no, that was my sign that it was my responsibility to look after him."
The singer, who practices Kabbalah, also addresses how her spiritual practices might influence David, who has been photographed wearing the red-stringed bracelet that is often associated with followers of the religion.
"I believe in Jesus and I study Kabbalah. So, I don't see why he can't too," says Madonna. "The essence of the Kabbalah is the teachings of Jesus. You know, love your neighbor as yourself."

US Weekly Reports: If Matthew Perry’s new show, Studio 60, gets the ax, at least he has a shoulder to cry on. A source tells Us Weekly that Perry, 37, is romancing The Class’ Lizzy Caplan, 24. The pair met two months ago through his former Friends costar Matt LeBlanc.

Kevin Federline admits that when he began seeing his now-wife, Britney Spears, the timing was less than ideal.

Shanna Moakler says her big secret to losing her baby weight is that she doesn't have a secret. She gave birth to third child, Alabama Barker, on Christmas Eve 2005. She says, "I have always said it takes 9 months getting there and 9 months getting back. My body holds on to that weight for a looooooooong time! Around 9 months it just kind of falls off."
Falls off? Hardly! This woman works her booty off! She credits power yoga every other day and lifts weights the other days, Dancing with the Stars (she danced 3 hours a day for 8 weeks), and the eliptical machine. Her advice to pregnant women is to "gain your weight slowly," "don't eat whole pies," and workout through the morning sickness.

But a flack for Harvey Weinstein told us the film will be screened in New York and L.A. by the end of the year to qualify for Oscar consideration. On the night of October 27, Us has learned that the actors shared the penthouse suite at a London hotel, where the pair ordered room service (steak, veal and red wine). Michael J. Fox says he wasn't "off his medication or acting" in an ad for a Democratic political candidate, as Rush Limbaugh has charged, but was in fact overmedicated. 
In a CBS Evening News interview with Katie Couric on Thursday, Fox explained that the effects of his medication are hard to predict: "I just take it and it kicks in when it kicks in. Sometimes it kicks in too hard and then you get what's called dyskinesia, which is that rocking motion."
There is no time that he's not medicated, he said. "At this point now, if I didn't take medication I wouldn't be able to speak. I'd have a mask face. I'd lock up and I wouldn't be able to move."

Mariah Carey's Hong Kong concert has been cancelled following the disagreements between her management company and the promoters of the event.
"As promoters of the Mariah Carey Hong Kong concert we have decided to cancel the event effective immediately due to both the poor response of public ticket sales and also due to specific last-minute demands which we find wholly unreasonable and not with the best interests of Hong Kong, us and also the fans," the promotion company said in a statement.
The promoters have put the entire blame on poor ticket sales saying just 4,000 of the 10,000 had been sold.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell was released on bail on Thursday after being arrested in London on suspicion of assault, police said.
"The 36-year-old woman ... has been bailed to return to a London police station on a later date in October," a police spokeswoman said.
