Supermodel Gisele Bundchen Slams Church

Rio De Janeiro Fashion Week - Colcci

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen stepped into the debate over birth control and sexual behavior in Brazil on Tuesday, saying Church opposition to condom use was ridiculous and women should have the right to choose on abortion.

Gisele is idolized by many young women in Brazil, the world's largest Roman Catholic country, where debate over sexual issues has intensified around a visit by Pope Benedict last month.

The Pope stressed the Church's firm opposition to abortion and contraception and railed against sex outside of marriage.

The Brazilian beauty, one of the world's top models, told Folha de S.Paulo newspaper in an interview that when the Church made its laws centuries ago, women were expected to be virgins.

"Today no one is a virgin when they get married ... show me someone who's a virgin!" she said.

Asked about abortion, she said a woman should have the right to choose what is best for her.

"If she thinks she doesn't have the money or the emotional condition to raise a child, why should she give birth?"

Gisele, who had just arrived from New York to take part in Rio de Janeiro's Fashion Week, also defended condom use.

"It's ridiculous to ban contraceptives -- you only have to think of the diseases that are transmitted without them. I think it should be compulsory to use a contraceptive."

The Brazilian government has clashed with the church over anti-AIDS programs in which it distributes millions of free condoms and Health Minister Jose Temporao has called for a national referendum on abortion.

there are alot of young girls who are waiting for marriage..true love should wait..sadly many parents aren't raising their girls or boys with the help of God...

whether or not you wait to have sex has NOTHING to do with god. you can believe in god and still have sex.

and, there's nothing immoral about having sex before marriage. thinking there is is just plain retarded.

not using condoms is THE STUPIDEST thing ever. she is completely right, you should always use a condom. the catholic retardism of not using them just spreads diseases and unwanted babies.

and you should NOT have a baby if you aren't able to take care of it. that is just wrong. killing a baby before it's even born is better than having it and giving it a shitty life.

ok, i am a huge New England Patriots fan so i might know more about this than most people (sorry if that sounded snobbish but its a regional thing) and she is dating the quarterback, Tom Brady, who's ex grilfriend is set to have his child in september, so if she's still dating him even after she knows all that, these comments definately show why. I think women should save themselves for marraige, it makes the wedding night special if its something you're sharing for the first time. I understand about her views on birth control but i can show you a few people i know right in my neighborhhod that were virgins when they got married...stupid man-model.

if you knew anything about brazil you'd know that gisele has a lot to back her up.
if condoms were not avaliable in brasil. we all would have died off to aids.

um, ok, person who says that sex has nothing to do with god, many people believe differently. so watch it. hi, im a virgin. saving myself for marraige, and the look of shock on peoples faces when i tell them that is sad. do we really live in a society where its so unbelievable for someone to want to save themselves for their husbands or wives? condoms are necessary in our society, but they shouldnt be. if people did wait til they were married, they wouldnt have to worry about spreading std's. pregnancy outside of marraige wouldnt be a problem. o, and abortion? if you feel you cant take care of your child, give it up for adoption. i know many people who want to have a child and cant and would die for such a blessing in their life that so many women now are so willing to throw away. or if you feel you cant take care of a child, well, dont have sex. people need to learn how to take responsibility for their actions.

god has everything to do with sex, at least when you talk to "someone who believes in god." of course you can still have sex outside of marraige and believe in god. doesnt make it right. sex is gods gift to us. to be shared in union between you and your spouse. its not about the physical pleasure. its about passion and love between you and the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with. and its sad that society nowadays has lost sight of that.

and seeing as we are dealing with the catholic church here, well, of course god is gonna figure into the issue. i mean, religion, god, morals, they tend to go hand in hand. so dont say that god and sex arent related, cause for a chrisian, they have everything to do with eachother.

We should all listen to Gisele. When I have a medical problem I go to my doctor. When I have a tax problem I go to my accountant. When I have a car problem I go to my mechanic. When I have issues regarding my faith I go to a supermodel. Who better than to resolve religious strife than a whore who had paid her dues by walking around in her underwear and getting porked by an athlete. Thanks Gisele, but next time when asked a question just do what comes naturally to you, spread your legs and shut your mouth.

Sex before marriage is very immoral and to say otherwise is heathenistic and bohemian. Banning condoms would be for the better because it would discourage premarrital sex and recreational sex. Either way, AIDs or not, people who still indulge themselves know the risks and do it anyway. Even worse they get pregnant and then get abortions. If you are not ready to have a baby, then dont have sex. Having sex otherwise is sinful and immoral. You trade life for a few moments of pleasure. That is just shameful and shows how far humanity degraded. If I'm correct, AIDs was pretty much unheard of until the 60's and 70's, which coincidentally is when aetheism and pleasure sex were at a height. I wonder if there is a connections there. That super model is an aetheist whore plain and simple. Oh and on the closing note, having pleasure sex without repenting but still believing in God gets you sent to hell all the same. People shouldn't act like they know theology when they really don't.
