Natalie Portman Helps Poor Women

Natalie Portman is endorsing "life-changing" micro-loans for the world's poorest women.

The 'V for Vendetta' actress has been working with FINCA International, an organisation which gives small loans to impoverished people in developing countries, and is fully behind the project.

Natalie, 25, told US TV show 'This Week': "I have met mothers younger than I am who were forced to work in poor conditions for low pay because that was the only job they could get.

"Getting this loan enables them to start their own business out of their own house and be with their children. It changes the whole system.

"If a woman can't tell her child, 'I can feed you tomorrow, I can pay for your school', then what happens? What do they do? What do they choose?

"It's really trying to reach the poorest of the poor and offering banking services to them."

She was like, “I’ve been at every premiere and you never say hello.” And it was funny, I felt really upset. I felt bad for her. So I turned around and went over to her and just gave her a hug and said, “It’s cool. I’m sorry you feel let down or disappointed. But the nature of my life is I can’t necessarily stop every time, and it’s not because I don’t want to.” I think she felt a little better afterward, and so did I. And for me, it actually shed a little light on the other side of the coin.

G: Which are worse, tabloids or bloggers?
OB: What’s a blogger?

G: Like PerezHilton.com….
OB: Right. It’s all the same thing. It’s sad to me that the celebrity culture has taken over in such a way that it overshadows a lot of what this industry is—or should be—about. It feels like it’s all about celebrity and fame and less about talent and ability. (source)

Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden has confessed he is tempted to take heroin.

The rocker - who is dating reformed heroin addict Nicole Richie - relies on cigarettes to satisfy his craving for the highly addictive Class A drug.

Joel told Blender magazine: "Without cigarettes, I would be doing heroin, probably, on a daily basis."

Nicole - the 25-year-old adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie - battled a heroin addiction as a teenager and entered rehab after she was charged with possession of the drug in February 2003.

She is currently facing a charge of Driving Under the Influence of drugs after she was stopped by police for driving on the wrong side of a California highway after leaving Joel's house.

Kirsten Dunst will return to the Spider-Man franchise with Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi for a fourth outing of the web-slinging superhero, which will be ready for release by 2011.

The 'Toxic' singer is said to be dreading the prospect of re-launching her career because she cannot bear to be apart from her sons, 19-month-old Sean Preston and seven-month-old Jayden James.

The star allegedly confessed her worries while shopping for her boys at Los Angeles children's store, Glen Kids at the Glen Centre.

A source told website X17 Online: "Britney said that Sean and Jayden are the loves of her life and that she enjoys every moment with her kids."

"She was excited to pick out some new clothes for the boys and she picked up some designer jeans and other items."

Pop star Hilary Duff is back on speaking terms with her ex-boyfriend Joel Madden after he left her devastated by ending their lengthy romance last November and started dating Nicole Richie.

Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne has hit out at 'celebrities' who are known only for "being at Hollywood clubs or dating people".

The Sk8er Boi hitmaker, who has lived in the limelight since the age of 17, hates people like Paris Hilton who abuse their "20 seconds" of fame.

Lavigne, 22, says, "I think it's funny that there are people who are famous who haven't done anything. They're just famous for being at Hollywood clubs or for dating people."

"The thing you have to remember with that kind of fame is it's 20 seconds long. So really, I feel kind of bad for them."

James Franco Hopes He'll Finish UCLA This Year

Spider-Man is interfering with James Franco's education - because he has no time to attend classes.

The actor, who plays Peter Parker's pal-turned-enemy Harry Osborn in the film franchise, went back to school last year to major in creative writing at UCLA in Los Angeles, but he's struggling to complete his studies.

He says, "I could be done by the end of summer, but because of this movie (spider-Man 3) and the press, I'm not gonna be able to take as many classes as necessary."

Franco now hopes to complete his studies by the end of the year.

Paris Hilton says her "life will be over" if she goes to jail, it has been reported.

Paris, who faces up to 90 days in prison if found guilty of violating her DUI probation, has told friends that "doing time" could ruin her career.

A source told Britain's More magazine: "Paris says if she goes to jail, even for just a day, her life will be over.

"She knows she'll lose a lot of work if she gets a reputation as someone who has done time. Her whole career is based on her image and maintaining a fan base - she has nothing else to rely on. She's petrified.

"She's the butt of quite a few jokes in Los Angeles these days and she hates it. She's been crying a lot, especially when she's been drinking, and is scared that her life is falling apart."

The 26-year-old party-lover's image has already been affected by the charges.

The source added: "She's missed two club appearances in the past couple of weeks. People in the industry are taking her less seriously and she doesn't feel like she's Hollywood's Golden Girl any more.

"She's more alone than ever before right now and this could be one situation she can't charm her way out of."

It seems to me like Paris Hilton is using publicity to try and get out of this one...too bad, she doesn't have a career and already has a bad reputation so LOCK HER UP ALREADY!

Lindsay Lohan Can't Be Clean and Sober For Hippy

The newly rehabbed Lindsay Lohan says she's enjoying sobriety — off-camera, at least. As for her on-screen life, the actress tells EW she can't wait to delve into the drug-addled world director Chris Siverston is creating for his next movie, which is currently titled Hippy. Although the project is still in its embryonic stage, Lohan had such a great experience working with the director on the upcoming movie I Know Who Killed Me, she's already set to take another trip with him.

''I have so much faith in [Siverston], just as a person, and I just love working with him,'' Lohan told EW. ''I love him [so much] as a person, that while we were on set, I was like, 'Let's make a deal right now.'''

Details on the movie's plot are scant at this point, but Lohan basically describes it as being about a group of kids taking a cross-country trip when one of them drops acid, goes crazy, ''and starts, like, killing people.''

Lohan says that Hippy will reunite her and Siverston with Marc Senter, who is starring alongside Lohan in I Know Who Killed Me and previously starred in Siverston's 2005 horror drama, The Lost. ''The Lost is such a good film,'' Lohan says. ''That was the one that I first saw before working with [Siverston]. I think Chris is going to be huge. I have no doubt in my mind about that.''

Could this Lohan/Siverston/Senter connection be a new Scorsese-like Hollywood clique in the making?

''I'm all for it,'' Lohan laughs. ''Not that I wouldn't love to work with Scorsese also.''

Hilary Duff says seeing people waiting for the bus in the rain made her want to write a song called 'Where's Your Dignity?'.

However, the 19-year-old has revealed the inspiration for the song came long before Nicole was on the scene.

"And on top of that, it was raining. I was like, they probably worked all day long and then they're riding the bus, and it's raining. Things like that can affect you - I didn't end up writing a song about it, though."
