Nicole also agreed to serve a three-year probation term, enroll in an alcohol education program and pay a $2,048 fine.

Nicole was given the option of serving her time in a paid city jail - which is seen as a more comfortable option than a county jail.

'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows', the seventh instalment in J.K. Rowling's magical adventure series, surpassed expectations with 15 million copies being sold since its release on Saturday (21.07.07).

Borders Group reported global sales of 1.2 million copies on the first day of the book's release, the biggest ever first day sale figures for the bookseller chain.

In comparison, the company sold just 850,000 copies of the sixth book, 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince', on its first day in 2005.

British supermaket chain Asda said 450,000 books were sold between midnight and 4pm on Saturday.

Thanks for joining me on davidbeckham.com – it does seem incredible that in all my time playing professional football, I haven’t had my own website.

So here it is at last.

It also gives me the perfect opportunity to say goodbye to all my friends in Spain. After four years in Madrid, I’d just like to say thank you to the people there and Real Madrid fans for being absolutely incredible, not only to me, but to my family as well. Victoria, who already has several pieces of body art, is said to have asked renowned tattooist Louis Molloy to come up with some designs.

The blond bombshell tried to celebrate her 27th birthday today at the Silver Spoon Beach House event space in Malibu, but the paparazzi apparently scared her away.

Here's what went down:

Simpson and five pals arrived this morning for a day at the beach. Lunch and a barbecue dinner were planned, sources tell me.

But about two hours into it, as lunch was being served, more than a dozen paparazzi descended on the house. I'm told Simpson decided to cut it short.

"She couldn't deal with it," one source said. "She kept saying she didn't want her friends to go through that. So, they stayed inside and then just left."

The troubled actress - who is currently being treated in Malibu's Promises rehab centre for alcoholism - learnt the techniques during her first stint in rehab earlier this year.

She told Tatler magazine: "There were therapy classes to talk about relationships and family issues and to hear other people's stories too. They teach you to give to other people and I walked away with the benefit of that.

"If I get stressed out I say a serenity prayer. I meditate too."

The 'Mean Girls' actress returned to rehab in May after crashing her car and being arrested for DUI (driving under the influence).

Lindi, 29, feels "guilty" for spending the night with the Babyshambles rocker on June 28 - while he was said to still be dating Kate - but told friends she "had to do it".

A friend of Lindi's told Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper: "Lindi said, 'I felt like I was cheating on Kate, but I just had to do it.'

"Pete told Lindi he was single. He made her laugh and there was something different about him. She said he was vulnerable and it made her feel protective towards him. She said the night was fantastic in every way. Pete is a sexy guy and Lindi can see why Kate is with him. It was a very passionate evening."

Avril Lavigne has hit back over claims her hit single 'Girlfriend' is a rip-off of a song written by a 70s rock band.

The 22-year-old singer claims she has never heard the 1979 track, 'I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend', written by Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwer of The Rubinoos, which they claim is the basis for her 2007 hit 'Girlfriend'.

Avril wrote on her official website: "I had never heard this song in my life and their claim is based on 5 words. All songs share similar lyrics and emotions. As humans we speak one language.

"Simply put, I have been falsely accused of ripping their song off. My songwriting partner Luke Gottwald and I have done nothing wrong and there is no merit to their claim."

But The Rubinoos - who have posted clips of the two songs side-by-side on their website - don't accept Avril's excuse and are adamant she has copied them.

Dunbar - who filed the lawsuit in San Francisco on July 2 - said: "We are not so naive as to chalk it up to some sort of cosmic coincidence. The lyric, the metre, the rhythm - they're identical."

The case is due to be heard in a California court on August 28.
